This poster was created for the Museum of Mankind, UK in 1994.  The purpose was to create a personal interpretation of the conquest of the New World.  Should we celebrate the fact that the new world was discovered?”  Was it discovered? Destroyed? How would the people from these lands have interpreted the facts?

The Christ painting is from a Mexican church in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. It was painted around 1520 by an anonymous Indian artist. Some experts contend that this was a self-portrait.  His features are very different from those of European paintings.  The cross is a silver Spanish sword from around 1490.
